Office 2004 for Mac now supports Applescript fully plus there’s VBA support with macro recording. There are some differences in VBA, mostly to do with operating system variations. For example there’s no ActiveX control support in Office for Mac and path separators in the Mac OS use colons not back-slashes.
Microsoft’s Mac Business Unit rolled out a pair of security- and stability-enhancing updates for Office 2008 and Office 2004 on Tuesday. The update contains improvements to stability and compatibility. It also fixes vulnerabilities than would allow attackers to overwrite your Mac's memory with malicious code.
This 333MB update applies to users of Office 2008, Office 2008 Home and Student Edition, Office 2008 Special Media Edition, Word 2008, Excel 2008, PowerPoint 2008, Entourage 2008, and Office 2008 for Mac Business Edition In addition, Microsoft released a Tuesday that promises calendaring improvements and the ability to sync notes, tasks, and categories with Exchange Server. In addition, the update also enables logging that can be used for diagnostic purposes.
Similar to Tuesday’s Office 2008 update, improves security and also fixes a vulnerability that can result in malicious code being run on your Mac. This 192MB update applies to users of Office 2004 Standard Edition, Office 2004 Student and Teacher Edition, Office 2004 Professional Edition, Word 2004, Excel 2004, PowerPoint 2004, Entourage 2004.
Tuesday also saw the release of, the utility that lets users of earlier versions of Office open files created in Office 2008 or Office 2007 for Windows. Microsoft’s release notes provided few details about the 45MB update. All updates are available now at.
There is no way to determine which keys may have been used, but if the software is no longer installed that's a moot point. Office 2004 can be installed on any number of Macs any number of times using the same key. The conflict only arises if more than one Mac using that key attempts to run the software on the same network at the same time.
It seems to me that the more pressing consideration is that Office 2004 cannot even be installed on OS X 10.7 (Lion) or later. Unless you intend to buy a 2nd hand Mac running an older version of OS X you won't be able to use Office 2004 in the first place, used Product Key or not.
